These are among a few graves on a small family plot near a public hiking trail. Some family members likely attended the church below, about a mile away.
This Methodist Church was built in 1882 in the small outpost of Island Grove in rural north Florida. It was abandoned in 1972, lost its steeple in the 80s, and between my two photos from 2021 and 2022, it collapsed. It had an immense presence - literally made me drop my jaw and slam on the brakes - and I am so lucky to have seen it before Florida reclaimed it.More info and interior photos pre-collapse at Abandoned Fl
